About Galing Gear

Galing Gear helps Filipino households get ready for typhoons, floods, earthquakes and brownouts, on a budget and for everyone under the roof: children, lolos and lolas, PWDs, anyone on maintenance medication, and pets.

What we cover

• Preparation plans for each hazard: before, during and after
• Go-bags, power, water, light and first aid for Philippine conditions
• Honest notes on gear: what it does well, and what it doesn’t

Who is behind it

Galing Gear is written by The Galing Gear Desk, our editorial team. Its guidance draws on more than ten years of search-and-rescue work, where gear had to work the first time, in bad weather.

We are independent: no brand pays to be featured, and we don’t earn from links in our articles. Our editorial policy explains how articles are made and checked.
